About Ken

Ken Pollinger studied four years of engineering and one year of pre-dentistry at the University of Cincinnati and then spent thirteen years in a Jesuit seminary studying philosophy and theology toward the priesthood. He ended up in Peru, where he taught high school sociology in Spanish then four years of Theology in Mexico City. Afterwards he engaged in a research project for his Ph.D. in sociology at Fordham University which ultimately was published in a book, Community Action & The Poor: Influence vs. Social Control in a NYC Community.

It was Gestalt, says Ken, that changed his life. “It helped me realize that I had to be in the present. I had to have experience, to probe every experience with a beginner’s mind, à lá Zen, to see things fresh, without cultural conditioning. I finally found my master: my direct personal experience.” He also studied Gestalt Psychology at the Gestalt Center of Long Island and had a private practice for many years.

Ken’s faith in direct experience is reflected in his personal style, his candor and penetrating curiosity, alert to whatever or whomever turns up in the moment. He likes to talk about the rich spiritual content of apparently ordinary events. For him there’s no such thing as a chance meeting. “Every single thing happens for a reason,” he says. “Every moment is infused with grace. You’ve got to open your ears and eyes. You’ll get messages, day in, day out.”

Ken as Jesuit

How does he discriminate in his selection of activities for the New Age Center and for the Point of Infinity? “I trust my guts.” Every day for half an hour he lies down on the floor, relaxes, lets go, and all of a sudden thoughts/inspirations/messages will come.”         Still claiming his time is the ongoing renovation of the building. He’s done carpentry, exterior painting on a scaffold, and pure scut work, literally digging out the cellar and hauling off hundreds of cartons of earth. “I got a lot done through sweat equity,” he says.

“I’m open to where I’m led more than having a vision,” he says. “If I die today, I’ll be happy. A lot of wonderful things have happened here. I don’t need more. I’m blessed.” He shakes his head and smiles. “But it’s fun to see what’s going to happen.” For example, he opened up an organic health restaurant, the Harvest Moon Café, which enjoyed a two year life span.

He is an ordained priest in The Order of Melchizedek and a recipient of a Minister of Spiritual Counseling certificate; also he officiates at creative weddings.

Ken, finished renovating the Main Lodge at the Point of Infinity–an earth-centered spiritual retreat center near Ellenville in the Catskill Mountains. Ken is presently watching an enlightened community emerging and welcomes inquiries. Presently Enlightenment and Mystical studies/experiences are his passion, as reflected in his latest books, Confessions of an Ex-Jesuit, Vols 1,2 and 3.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

2022-2023.   A NEW Meditation Experience has been created by Ken.  Titled

BedMedHealing Meditation for Enlightenment, whereby an unusual yoga posture, the Dead Man’s pose, is utilized,

          A Guide to Enlightenment
                       with
              Deep Relaxation

A few folks have contacted me and said they profited from the OVER 20 emails and asked for a  ROUGH introduction to the Universal Consciousness/ENERGY Experience.

The “BedMed” practice.

1. Lie down on the bed, with a cover over you.  (Like your personal meditation “Himalayan cave,”
or sensory deprivation tank.

2. Start off with recognizing your desire for assistance in this endeavor.
And also realizing that different concepts of God are used.  My personal preference is Original Creative ENERGY (aka., the Source as ENERGY)

3. Remember that the energies of past Masters such as Buddha, Jesus, Krishna, Rajneesh, Socrates, as well as significant others are HERENOW and always present.  Just a matter of  recognizing/allowing contact. Feel free to FEEL them also.  (The Kingdom of God–the divine PRESENCE– is within), and without.

4. With  Deep Relaxation the
process calls for no-thoughts, that is, allowing any thoughts to evaporate slowly but surely.  Thus, no clinging to any, even, so-called positive ones, for they are ALSO thoughts. And even prayers at this point are thoughts!  Arrival to no-self eventually might occur.

The mind cannot go beyond the mind, no?

5. It is a no-thought EXPERIENCE that is desired.
Mantras can be used periodically: “surrender,”
“let go,” “quiet,” “be still,” “silence,” etc.
But even the words “let go’ need to be let go.
Thus the silent gaps between thoughts slowly last longer and longer.  Keep it up until maybe one day total emptiness, the void, absolute silence arrives, wth releases, peace, joy, maybe bliss.  And maybe even before that you might experience a TASTE of what’s presented here.  Patience and practice will be needed.
You determine how much time is to be used, however the longer the relaxation, the better.

6. Pay ATTENTION, OBSERVE, FEEL, WITNESS whatever happens, without judgement, to partial or full body sensations (prickly tinglings, heated areas, pulsations, throbbing, etc.).

SILENCE with DEEP RELAXATION and “experiential” UNDERSTANDING is the key

7.  Come out of “BedMed” slowly and gently.
Then, if wished, write up your daily experiences., and recall them now and then during the day.  Also, allowing GRATITUDE to arise

PS.  If I can be of help, please contact me.
